Celtics reportedly acquire center Nikola Vucevic for Anfernee Simons

Well, it finally happened. Anfernee Simons has been reportedly traded to the Chicago Bulls, with Boston picking up veteran center, Nikola Vucevic ( per nba.com ): The 35-year-old Vučević is joining his fourth team after stints with Philadelphia, Orlando and the Bulls. He has averaged 16.9 points and 9.0 rebounds this season, roughly matching his career marks of 17.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. The speculation all season long has beeen that Simons would be traded for a veteran big man with playoff experience, and Vucevic fits that profile. The only downside may be that Neemias Queta may go back to his previous bench role.while still logging significant minutes as a reserve.

Home Cooking

Cs are back home after that loss in Chicago to face the Blazers. We welcome back Jrue Holiday and Rob Williams. Jrue holds a very special place in my heart and all Celtics fans. He was a huge part in us winning Banner 18. One heck of a defender and overall great player. No matter where he's been, the way he plays is elite. He has been on two NBA championship teams, the Bucks and Celtics. One of my all time favorite players. Rob also holds a special spot for me given how well he played for us and was almost part of a title team.       Cs are looking solid on both ends of the floor. As they should given they are back home. No excuses for them not to win! Too many missed threes up to this point. Cs with a solid lead but Joe wants a timeout and it is needed. Time to get the guys refocused and ready to finish this quarter the right way. I'd really like to see the Cs push their lead as the second seed. I know it's not a big lead now but it could matter...

Anfernee Simons can be Celtics version of Vinnie Johnson

Anyone remember Vinnie Johnson, aka "The Microwave" . Former Celtics head honcho Danny Ainge dubbed him with the moniker because Vinnie would heat up fast when coming off the bench for the Detroit Pistons in the late 80s. Johnson averges 24.7 minutes per game for his career, and the 6'2" combo guard was primarily a scorer and often gave the opposition, including Boston, fits. Well, the Boston Celtics currently have their own version of "The Microwave" in 6'3" guard, Anfernee Simons . Simons is averaging 24.2 PPG off the bench for Boston, and he is hitting 44% from the field and 41% on the long ball . Like Vinnie, he is primarily a scorer - and can be a deadly one. In Jayson Tatum's absence, he has he has excelled in his offensive role. From his arrival in Boston, Anfernee has been the subject of trade talks , He will earn roughly $27.7 million this season on an expiring contract. But the trade deadline is approaching, and Brad Stevens ...

Atlanta Georgia

Jaylen Brown has been balling in this game, I mean it's no surprise given he's back home. He's truly playing at an MVP level this season. Imagine how good we will be once JT comes back?! I wouldn't make any moves unless we can bring someone in thru the buyout market. The Cs team chemistry has been something to behold. You can't knock chemistry especially when guys believe in one another. All these guys have accepted the challenge this season and are succeeding.       Anfernee Simons named after Penny Hardaway has been elite off the bench. This kid has shown me a ton and I wasn't that pleased when we got rid of Jrue for him. Thankfully this young man has shown he can play and do it in Boston. Cs have crashing the boards really well tonight. Offensively they have been elite and are cooking up some Hawk for dinner. Sam Hauser has been an assassin here in the first half. He's on fire as you can see the Nets are smoking every time he hits a three. JB ...

Miami

Cs are in Miami as they are on a 2 game skid, honesty they need this win. The loss to the Spurs I get but losing to the Pacers unacceptable. Time for the Cs to dig in on D and get JB going early. In regards to trading for Jaren Jackson Jr, I love him as a player but he's not worth the money or capital. You need balance on your roster. JB and JT can be your top Dawgs and then allow guys like DWhite and others to do their job. Cs are going with Hauser, Pritch, Queta Brown and White as starters.       This Heat floor is gross, so are their stupid uniforms. Sam gets us on the board with the tip in. The Cs suck right out of the gate and look terrible. Joe needs to and calls a timeout. I'm disgusted with how we have started. Why am I wasting my time watching this crap? I guess it's because I ultimately love the Celtics. Cs end up getting back into the game as they have tightened up their defense. Guys are guarding their yards and starting to grind the ...

Raptor Extinction...

Cs are coming off a bad loss given the Nuggets had no Jokic. JB didn't get any calls whatsoever that night either. I expect to see a more focused Celtics team that is going to hamdle their business. They are currently 2-0 vs the Raptors, both wins in Toronto. With that said we are in the Garden so why not take it to em! Cs fans are we excited to see the Patriots play Sunday night?! I know I am, they have exceeded expectations as have the Cs. Vrabel is an excellent coach and has a great staff. Drake Maye is playing incredibly and I love our run game. Expect the D to be stout come Sunday night.       PP hits the first three of the game, I hope it's the first of many for him. PP is having himself quite the first quarter. The entire team seems to be locked in. Love seeing JB bring down the house with his dunks. Sam Hauser is perfect from deep right now and he's been due for a big game. Let's hope he keeps it rolling all game. Crazy to think this Rapt...

Must win nothing else matters

Celtics enter tonight after losing to the lowly Jazz, if they lose to the Wizards we are in severe trouble. This Wizards team is on a five game losing streak. Cs must defend and rebound if they want to get this win. I really hope we don't see the Celtics shoot and miss so many threes. Basketball can be a beautiful sport, but when you jack up so many threes it becomes very boring. We have finally made it to tip off, I'm hoping for a wire to wire win.       Cs run a nice set seeing DWhite finding Queta on the pick and roll for the JAM! We have a quick substitution as Simons enters for PP. Cs trail by three early on and that's concerning for me. JB is going to have to lead this team to victory. JB drives and gets fouled and no whistle whatsoever. We have reached our first timeout as the Celtics trail by four. I tell you this much if the Celtics lose tonight heads should roll. Everyone from top to bottom should be questioned for their play and coachi...

Cs in Philly

Cs are off to a good start early, but last time the played Philly we blew a big lead. This NBA Cup court is gross. I love the Cs posting JB up against Maxey. Time to make him work on defense. JB for three! JB scores again and he's playing very well tonight. PP is looking really good so far tonight. Nice to see him find his groove early on. Cs came to play tonight and I've got a decent feeling about it. Cs are not messing around  as the lead is up to nine. Queta with the block of the year and Hugo nails the three! Cs with a solid lead after the first. I like what I saw on both ends of the floor.       Cs start the second quarter with a decent lead. The key is building on it and keeping it steady. Simons with a nice bucket off the glass. This kid is quick and can get anywhere on the floor ge wants to. Simons with a three just as the shot clock went off. That was a sweet move and shot, it was electric! Nice to see DWhite finding his shot as well...

It's Here...

Tonight is the night, game one for our beloved Boston Celtics. We have some core pieces here but there are some who have moved on. I'm going to miss Al, Luke, Jrue, and Kristaps. They were all part of Banner 18 and I'll never forget them. Yet we do welcome some brand new pieces to our chess board and I believe they will have a positive impact this season. Not sure what direction I'm going to take this season in my writing but I plan on being my authentic self.        🏀 First quarter 🍀      Here we go! The Celtics starting lineup consists of JB, DWhite, Sam, Payton, and The Pride of Portugal. We really need this group to come out firing! Defensively we have to see what Queta can do vs the big baby Embid. Queta scores on the Celtics first possession of the season. Excellent pass from DWhite leading Queta to the basket. Cs are making an effort to get to the paint. DWhite seems to be locked in on all fronts.    ...

Celtics Pre Season Game 3

Stat time! Our Boston Celtics took on the Cavs last night. We had several players in double figures. Hauser, White, Pritchard, Simon's and Minott. Given this season and the the roster shake up expect to see multiple scorers in double figures. I personally would pencil in JB, DWhite, and Pritch to be regulars in this department. Heck I may even throw in Hauser, Simons and Boucher. It's all hands on deck this season so why not! What we need to see is Queta and X take that next step given they are part of our rotation of bigs w new addition Luka Garza.       I'm kinda excited to see what Joe is able to get out of this roster. So far in these three games we are seeing a Coach who wants his team to rebound. If you aren't rebounding you will find yourself subbed out and on the bench! Which I freaking love! The more rebounds we can secure the better opportunities we have at pushing the pace. I feel defensively we have a group of guys willing to get nast...

Celtics player rankings in Yahoo Fantasy Basketball. Real or fantasy?

Count me as a devoted fan of Fantasy Basketball . The real world has not been uplifting lately, so sojourns into the fantasy world are welcome . Yahoo's Fantasy rankings this season, however, do not bode well for the Boston Celtics chances of success. Here are the top-5 Celtics: #23: Jaylen Brown #46: Derrick White #81: Anfernee Simons #95: Payton Pritchard #238: Sam Hauser With Brown at #23, that means he probably gets drafted towards the end of the second round - which I did in a mock draft.. White makes sense at #46 since many expect him to start once again and to take on a bigger load . Derrick is a player I may stretch for in a real draft. Simons beat out Pritchard , but the former may prove to be too much of a defensive liability . Pritchard was drafted early in my mock draft. I expect him to (at least) increase his production this season, whether he starts or not. Then it's a stretch for Hauser at #238 . I expected him to be ranked a bit higher . He could be a sleeper,...

Have Trailblazers lost their minds? A view from Portland on the Holiday-Simons trade

"Trailblazers lose their minds with Simons-Holiday trade". That is the title of an article by   BlazersEdge.com's Dave Deckhard. Deckhard doesn't seem to like the Blazers trading away Anfernee Simons for the Celtics Jrue Holiday (to put it mildly) . His argument follows: Portland definitely did not get younger. Simons was 26. Holiday is 35. Portland did not save money. Simons was owed $27.7 million on his deal, the final year of an extension signed three seasons ago. Holiday will earn $32.4 million next year—more than Simons—and is owed $104 million for the life of the contract. That’s nearly four times what Simons is scheduled to make. Portland not only hard-capped themselves at the first apron of the luxury tax this year by taking back a player making more money than Simons (a theoretical issue since they weren’t going to exceed it anyway), they’ve seriously imperiled future cap flexibility by taking on Holiday’s contract. Portland did not get future draft capita...

Celtics trade Jrue Holiday to Portland Trailblazers

Well, it happened. Most NBA analysts had the Boston Celtics trading guard Jrue Holiday this off-season, and now the 2-time All-Defense combo guard is heading to the Trailblazers in exchange for = 6'3", 200-lb. shooting guard, Anfernee Simons and two second-round draft picks. Simons just turned 26 years of age and averaged 19.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists for Portland last season. He is listed as a shooting guard but has played the point position for the Blazers. BREAKING: The Boston Celtics have traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. pic.twitter.com/2ycXQicGkT — Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 24, 2025 Taken with the 24th-overall pick in the 2018 draft , Simons is set to earn $27.7 million this season, the last season in his current contract.  The Celtics cost-cutting has begun. The loss of Jrue truly hurts, but this appears to be a trade that had to be made.
