The Dream of B2B is over

Time for the Celtics to show why they are road warriors and bring this home. Early on its been a very choppy game for the Cs. Defensively they are making some plays and missing others. Although that was a heck of a block from KP. It also nice seeing KP hit a three. Hopefully that three will be the one that gets him started. It would be nice to see him have a big game. Cs are going to need him. It would be nice to see Sam and Payton get it going tonight.       Cs are very cold tonight, Brown is the only one who can score right now. The second quarter has been an absolute disaster for the Celtics. This is the end and last run with this group. I'm very sad that this is how the Celtics run ends. With only one title and guys being on the verge of being traded out. I wish Tatum didn't get hurt. What a brutal way to lose especially with how bad their shooting has been tonight. My gut is telling me this is the last time Jrue, KP, and Sam will wear Celtic...

Jaylen Brown - alias "2024 Finals MVP" - comes through in Game-5 win

Jaylen Brown's stelar play in the 2024 Finals versus the Mavericks was evident once again in the Celtics convincing win over the Knicks in Game-5 of the Eastern Semis. In 37 minutes , he did a great defensive job on New York's Jalen Brunson , while supplying 26 points, eight rebounds, 12 assists (not a misprint), one steal and a plus/minus of +28. That's 12 assists with only two turnovers for Brown. And he held Brunson to 41% shooting on field goals and 25% on 3-pointers , while Jaylen was 53% from the field and 60% on treys.  Even if you missed the game, Brown's 12 assists show that he didn't try to make up for the loss of Jayson Tatum all by himself.  Admittedly, his foul shooting (5-of-8) was off a bit, but his overall game, in a do-or-die situation, was admirable.. Can he do it again on Friday night in New York? Boston fans hope so. With Tatum out of action for (at least) most of next season - and with the upcoming cost-cutting - almost every player on the ...

Celtic Pride in Full Effect

First half was a showcase of two teams who have played a number of games vs each other. Derrick White and Jaylen Brown carried this group offensively. I have always loved Derrick and he was on his game. JB is putting it together on both ends of the floor, thats what you want from your stars. Very Jordan like challenging the opposition on defense. KP still doesn't have what it takes to be out on the floor. His illness has ruined any chance of him being effective. Personally I despise each and every player on the Knicks roster. They are nothing more than babies and dirty players.       This third quarter has shown JB to be an elite defender. He's been hounding Brunson who seems gassed. What an absolute bum Brunson is. Dude never stops crying to the officials. Derrick White has given it everything he has here in the third. That dive into the bench by Brown shows how much heart and love he has for the Celtics. Luke has been a monster on D bloc...

It's official - and devastating! Jayson Tatum had surgery today on torn Achilles.

It took a while, but the bad news is out, and the initial thoughts on Jayson Tatum's lower leg injury were correct. The Achilles tendon in his right leg was - in fact - torn in Game-4 versus the Knicks - and now has been repaired via surgery , The one-time Champ and Celtics superstar will miss the rest of the post-season and most of next season. Jayson has to be devastated right now, but I have faith in the medical team - and Tatum - himself, that his recovery will be complete and he will be welcomed back onto the parquet with the same skills and determination we saw since he came into the League. Jayson Tatum today underwent successful surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon. No timetable is currently available for his return, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Further updates will be provided when appropriate. pic.twitter.com/TTXziFtMQB — Boston Celtics (@celtics) May 13, 2025 The Boston Celtics are now facing both financial cost-cutting and the loss of th...

Do or die part two...

Cs must come out tonight and establish their dominance over the Knicks yet again. It all starts on defense which should lead to good offense. I fully expect the Celtics to tie this series up as we head home for Boston on Wednesday night. Cs open up with the first five points. Great ball movement leads to a DWhite three! JT finds DWhite for another three! Cs offense is starting to hum! Timeout by the Knicks and this lead could grow even more for the Cs. Cs need to continue to dig in on defense.       Cs finish the first with a flurry of threes! That's how you finish a quarter! Now let's see that lead double as we enter the second. Overall you have to be pleased with the Celtics offense there. They moved the ball well and hit their shots. I was extremely impressed with their defense at points. I need that for the rest of the game! It's great seeing JT find his stroke and show some emotion. Give me that fire and win this damn game! Cs do need to cle...

Current playoffs suggesting how Celtics roster may look next season

All indications point to some cost-cutting by the Boston Celtics prior to next season, and the 2025 post-season may dictate who stays and who goes. Everything starts with Jayson Tatum - who happens to lead his team in four major categorie s - namely points per game, rebounds per game - in addition to assists and steals . His Jay Team partner, Jaylen Brown is second to Tatum in scoring , followed by Derrick White, Payton Pritchard and Jrue Holiday - in that order. I see those four players as locks for the 2025-26 season , despite rumors that Holiday may be let go to ease next year's financial burden. Despite a slight decline in his game this season, he remains an important cog in the Celtics machine . And frankly, I can't visualize The Green without both White and Pritchard. They have been mainstays for Boston. Now to Al Horford . Age may be slowing the Dominican Gentleman somewhat, buy he is a gamer out on the floor - and leads the team in blocks per contest in this season...

Do or die this is the season

I've been in a fog lately from a sports perspective and you all know why. Today is the day where we see the Celtics finally play like champions. Today is the day where the series shifts. Today is the day of reckoning! I truly believe the only team who can beat the Celtics is themselves and that's what happened. That is why they are in this hole... Today starts the process of getting back into the series. I guarantee a Celtics win not only today but come Monday.       Cs score first and Al nails his first three! I'm taking those as good signs today. Jrue parts the D like the red sea and scores. Cs must do all the little things and win the hustle plays. JBs three is pure and that's a great sign! I am concerned that JT has missed two shots early on. With that said he nails a three! That's a big shot early on for him,  time to light it up. I love watching JB attack the paint, force the refs to make calls. I despise this Knicks team so much. Cs m...

Wake up guys...

Celtics play a decent first quarter but still look out of rhythm. KP was not in the starting lineup and that illness is affecting him. The Cs left a lot of points out there and really need to learn to capitalize on good looks. Brown and Tatum must lead by example and stop jacking up so many threes. They have allowed the Knicks way too much life tonight. Reggie Miller has been awful in this broadcast. Why can't we get quality guys doing these games. TNT and ESPN have such terrible in game announcers and color commentators.       Cs are sluggish in this second quarter and yet again the Knicks are staying close. Cs need to start moving the ball like we saw in the regular season. It just isn't crisp enough and there is no flow whatsoever. I really hope they can find themselves and finish this second quarter off the right way. I like what I'm seeing from White tonight, he never disappoints. Jrue has been stout on D and he like White never disapp...

The Porzingis perception problem

The Celtics Kristaps Porzingis is listed as "probable" for tonight's Game-2 clash with the New York Knicks. He saw only 13 minutes of action in Boston's Game-1 loss to New York - producing ZERO points (0-4 shooting), four boards and one assist - all in the first half .  Coach Joe Mazzula stated that the Latvian center simply could not continue in the second half. An unknown respiratory illness seems to be doing a number on the big man. Porzingis is taking some heat on social media , and that is unfair. The Celtics brought the big man into the fold because of his size and skills, knowing how fragile he is. But a number of Celtics fans have the perception that anyone making almost $30 million this year should be out there if they can move and talk . What Kristaps Porzingis is doing to our fanbase. You're sick of hearing it, but Celts need to moderate "3-point mania"

I know it! Many of you know it! Even the Jay Team knows it! Charles Barkley commented - after the Celtics loss in Game-1 to the Knicks - The Celtics are a team that "has no Plan B". The 45 missed treys by Boston amounted to 135 points .  Trust me! I am not against the 3-pointer in NBA games. I have always stated that the best solution to a problem usually lies somewhere between the extremes . Avoiding the long ball entirely is a mistake. Continuing to chuck them up ( 60 attempts, 25% success in Game 1 ) when they are not falling is folly. Against New York, Boston never went to Barkley';s "Plan B". Launching 3-pointers is the easy way out. Jayson Tatum: "There were probably some times that we settled." Tatum said he believes he could have put more pressure on the rim. — Jay King (@ByJayKing) May 6, 2025 That is all!

And So It Begins...

I personally can't stand the Knicks or this roster. Yet for at least four games I'll have to deal with seeing them and their blowhard fans. In all reality this Celtics team is better and deeper. Joe is a better coach than Tibs and that's a fact! I'm hoping to see the Celtics throw multiple defenders at the flopper Brunson. They used different guys in the regular season who gave him problems. I expect the Cs to expose him on defense because he's a liability. JT has owned the Knicks all freaking season. He's going to have an incredible series!      Scal just said something where I agree with him. He said the Knicks don't have enough talent to win! The reason why the Celtics will win this series is because they are stacked and ready to roll! Cs must come out and punch these Knicks in the mouth. The Knicks don't defend very well and the Cs will expose them. These New Balance commercials are really played out. Let's get some new and better content f...

Jayson Tatum remains in Kevin Durant territory for his ceiling

Three seasons ago, I asked the question, "Is Kevin Durant too-high a ceiling projection for Jayson Tatum" . Well, comparing the two stars in their 8th seasons (where Tatum now sits), it appears Jayson is still in that territory. Here are their 8th-season stats: Tatum 26.8 PPG - 8.7 RPG - 6.0 APG - 1.1 SPG - 0.5 BPG -  .452FG - .343 3s - .814FT Durant 25.4 PPG - 6.6 RPG - 4.1 APG - 0.9 SPG - 0.9 BPG - .510FG - .403 3s - .854 FT Tatum gets the nod for the first four stats , and Durant takes the last four . Jayson is still only 27 years old and may not have yet peaked.  Durant has two NBA Championships to his credit, in addition to two Finals MVP Awards and one NBA MVP trophy thus far in his total career , while Tatum has only the one Title to his credit thus far. Their games are quite similar, as indicated by the stats. Jayson needed to improve his point guard skills to remain in Durant territory, and he has done that. We don't know the final outcome to this duel, but ...

The saving of an orphan from obscurity

The house is strangely quiet now . My 12-year-0ld great grandson went home yesterday, and I miss him already. OBSCURITY (Definition): The state of being unknown, inconspicuous or unimportant Photo of Carson by Linda Lane Carson Thomas Lane will turn 13 years of age next month. His biological father abandoned him at birth, and his mom, Courtney, died - a victim of cystic fibrosis - at the age of 25 - when Carson was only seven years old. In the end, my granddaughter - being kept alive on a ventilator - chose the day her life would end . Two major hospitals had apparently determined that she was not "important' enough to receive a double-lung transplant. Please pardon me for my cynicism and lasting anger. Courtney chose my daughter, Lisa , (in turn supported by her husband, Jim ) as Carson's legal guardian and her then-boyfriend, Josh , as his surrogate dad. At the time of this writing, my great grandson still lives with Joshua Farrell and his mom, Heather. Prior...
