DeMarcus Cousins or Isaiah Thomas to Celtics on a 10-day contract?

Hardwood Houdini has broached the idea of the Boston Celtics adding either DeMarcus Cousins or Isaiah Thomas to the roster via a 10-day contract. This is a move that I could buy into. These two potential pick-ups are far apart in many ways. About the only things they have in common is that they are both seasoned veterans and can score the ball from anywhere. The addition of the 6'10" Boogie to the Celtics mix would put him with Rob Williams and Tristan Thompson at the center spot. On the surface, the points, rebounds and assists that he could add make it seem like a great idea, but his on-court antics may make Danny Ainge turn away from that move. The 5'9" (not really) Isaiah would bring his points, assists and ball movement back to the parquet, and it would make a Hell of a story - if it worked. IT has always used his lack of height to his advantage on offense, but his size would work against him with Brad Stevens heavily favoring larger wings that can effective...

Should Danny Ainge roll the dice on free agent, DeMarcus Cousins?

Allow me at first to state that possibly inking free agent, DeMarcus Cousins, to a vet-minimum deal for the upcoming season would be a major risk for for even Riverboat Gambler, Danny Ainge. Boogie has never been accused of possessing a stable demeanor, and his recent injury history (ACL tear being the most-recent) poses more questions. But the 6'11", 270 pound center is big, strong and athletic. Although never known for his defensive prowess, the shot at getting his first Championship ring with the right team might just be the inspiration he needs. And although it may seem like Cousins is ready for the rocking chair, he turned 30 years old over the summer.  In 30 games with the Golden State Warriors during the 2018-19 season, in only 25.7 MPG, Cousins produced 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Boston desperately needs some size and strength in the middle for certain match-ups. If Boogie is fully-recovered and bent on finally wearing a...

Celtics fortunate they didn't "roll the dice on DeMarcus Cousins"

It was in the spring of 2015 that I heard the Boston's Globe's Bob Ryan emphatically state that he would personally pick up DeMarcus Cousins at the airport if Danny Ainge worked a trade for him. Cousins was with the Sacramento Kings at the time, and Ryan was among many others that wanted the star center in Boston. That never happened, but the Los Angeles Lakers did take the bait and sign Boogie to a one-year deal this summer reportedly for slightly more than the veteran minimum. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski subsequently reported on August 15, 2019 that Cousins had suffered a third injury to his left leg - this time a torn ACL. Test results are conclusive today in Los Angeles: Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins has suffered a torn left ACL, agent Jeff Schwartz of @excelsm tells ESPN — Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) August 15, 2019 Now things keep getting tougher for the 4-Time All-Star. An arrest warrant has been issued for DeMarcus on a charge of domestic violence (per USA T...

Lakers resurgence just took a hit - DeMarcus Cousins suffers torn ACL

DeMarcus Cousins has reportedly suffered a serious third injury to his left leg - this time a torn ACL. The two prior injuries, also on the same leg, were an Achilles issue and torn quad. This most likely means Cousins will miss the entire 2019-20 season, and it does not bode well for his NBA future. ESPN story on exam results today: Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins has a torn ACL. https://t.co/HFnZO340RD — Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) August 15, 2019 DeMarcus signed a $3.5 million, one-year deal with the Lakers, and he was slated to get a lot of time at the center spot, with newly-acquired Anthony Davis alternating between the four and five spots. That just changed. The most-likely starting unit for the Lakers would be Davis at center, Kyle Kuzma at the four, Lebron James at small forward and Rajon Rondo and Danny Green at the guard slots. That depleted unit certainly has Championship potential, but a missing-in-action Boogie dims their hopes. If Cousins had remained uninju...
