🏀       The Celtics have been sold for a huge number to a group led by William Chisholm. The question is will he be able to keep this team together? Sadly I don't see it happening, or at least that's what I'm hearing. Cs have clinched a playoff spot and have won fifty games yet again. Not too shabby. They only trail the Thunder and Cavs record wise.        Good seeing Max aka Cornbread in that lottery commercial. One of the most talented and impacful Celtics of all time. Young Celtics fans should YouTube hits highlights. The man belongs in the Basketball Hall of Fame! He's an excellent radio announcer and keeps it real.   The Celtics had the game in their pocket versus the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day , but it was the most-recent Finals MVP Award winner, Giannis Antetokounmpo , that made sure Boston didn't leave with the win. The Celtics just don't seem to have that player with the intensity to figuratively stick that dagger into the heart of an opponent and maybe twist it a bit . Bill Russell never won that specific award because it didn't exist until his last season (1968-69) in the League - and Jerry West took the award that year even though his Lakers lost to Boston in the Finals . "The Logo" was that good. But the prize is now known for Russ, an intense competitor who possessed that "killer instinct". Larry Bird took the Finals MVP Trophy twice - Paul Pierce won one of them - and even the often-dismissed Cedric Maxwell grabbed one . All three gave "no quarter" .  Received Cedric Maxwell's book as one of my Christmas gifts, and it brought back memories of his time in Boston. Let me say this - I really enjoyed watching him play. We hear the nickname, Cornbread , a lot connected to Max, but I always liked the moniker, Rubber Band Man . It clearly described his resilient, wiggle-his-way-to-the-hoop-maneuver for a layup or a foul. Kevin McHale may have had better footwork close to the basket, but The Rubber Band Man was adept at getting a short-range shot up, with or without being fouled. @cedricmaxwell81 We never hear your nickname, Rubber Band Man, anymore.       Climb on my back boys! No more infamous words then those before game 7 of the 1984 NBA Finals vs the Lakers. Cedric Cornbread Maxwell delivered after those impactful words. During that same series after James Worthy missed a key free throw in game 4 Max walked by him making the choke sign.       Cedric Maxwell lead his college team to the Final Four in 1977. A smaller college in UNC Charlotte not your typical big time college, pretty impressive and speaks to the talent and skills of Cornbread.       Cornbread had some of the best low post skills of any player ever to take to he hardwood. He had an uncanny ability to fake the defense into the air and score easily . Another skill of Cornbreads was to draw contact from his opponents and get to the line.
