My prior Brian Scalabrine interview: His early predictions for the Jay Team

Jaylen Brown as a "version of (Michael) Jordan". Jayson Tatum as "Kevin Durant-ish" and "flirting with First Team All-NBA". The following is from my interview of Brian Scalabrine several years ago, before The Jay Team had reached their current level of stardom.  "It'll be determined on Championships. Jayson can be Kevin Durant-ish. Jaylen can be - gosh - I hate using Michael Jordan, because I don't think he can be Michael Jordan -but the way he plays, and moves - and see how he jumps in the air - ever remember when Jordan would jump and and elevate, kind of float, keep the ball high in the air. Jaylen does that a lot. I hate doing that (Jordan comparison) - Jordan - best player ever - he (Jaylen) can be more of his version of Jordan - more catch-and-shoot - he has that defensive mentality - watch the way they both get in that defensive stance - both those guys (Jay-Team) have a tremendous upside - tremendous - more than anything, it's how...

That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia, Celtics vs Hawks

1st Quarter        Nice offensive sets so far the good guys in green. Marcus using his body getting to the rim with the and 1 you gotta love it. JB coming home tonight, can he come up with a lights out performance? I sure believe and hope so. One issue we are seeing right now is the Celtics getting out done in the paint. Need to change that, if we are going to be successful tonight.        JBs pace and attack are on point so far tonight. Need to keep this aggressive play going. Lets hope the rest of the team follows suit and gets it in gear. Hawks are a team we lost to earlier this season, tonight is the Return of the Jays (Jedi). Where we use the force necessary to get the W! Isn't basketball just a beautiful game. The sound of the ball being dribbled, a nice crisp pass between teammates and the sweet sound of a nothing but net shot. Awe I Love This Game! Nostalgic moment over on to the second quarter.    ...

Jaylen Brown is quietly fullfilling Brian Scalabrine's prophesy

When it comes to the Jay Team, it is Jayson Tatum that garners more attention, but his teammate, Jaylen Brown, has quietly elevated his game and appears to be also heading towards super stardom. In the regular season, Brown logged an average of 33.9 MPG while producung 20.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 2.1 APG and 1.1 SPG. He shot .481 from the field, .382 on treys and .724 from the foul stripe. In slightly elevated minutes (36.3 MPG) in the Philadelphia series, his numbers are almost identical, with the most-outstanding number being his playoff free throw percentage soaring to .952. In my interview with Brian Scalabrine prior to the 2018-19 season, Scal was bullish on the Jay Team. His accolades may be heading towards reality: Brian Scalabrine: "Jaylen (Brown) can be - gosh - I hate using Michael Jordan, because I don't think he can be Michael Jordan -but the way he plays, and moves - and see how he jumps in the air - ever remember when Jordan would jump and and elevate, kind of floa...

Brian Scalabrine had no chance vs. Marcus Smart at H.O.R.S.E

Apparently, when you player H.O.R.S.E against Marcus Smart, it's called S.M.A.R.T. Brian Scalabrine learned a few things during the contest. This @smart_MS3 Trick Shot challenge vs @Scalabrine is a must watch #MarcusSmartDay https://t.co/aNbxepQyMu — Marcus Smart Day on NBC Sports Boston (@NBCSCeltics) January 8, 2020 Marcus swears there is a purpose behind him practicing trick shots. He indicated that you never know what type of shot may present itself during a game - thus the weird variety of attempts he practices. Scal never had a chance in this contest. The Jays have taken flight - as Brian Scabrine predicted

It was more than a year ago, in my one-on-one interview with Brian Scalabrine, that Scal was bubbling over with enthusiasm for the future of the Jays, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. When asked about the ceiling of the pair of wings, Brian did not hold back. Stopping short of equating any two players, he did suggest that Tatum had some of Kevin Durant in him, while Brown was similar to Michael Jordan in certain ways. Here are Scal's exact words from my interview: "It'll be determined on Championships. I hate doing that (Jordan comparison) - Jordan - best player ever - he (Jaylen) can be more of his version of Jordan - more catch-and-shoot - he has t...

Brian Scalabrine: Celtics need to "attack the restricted area - get to free throw line"

Former Celtic, Brian Scalabrine doesn't believe in team chemistry. What he does believe in is playing the game of basketball the right way - and part of that is getting into the restricted area and getting to the free throw line. Celtics legend and current announcer, Tommy Heinsohn is constantly heard yelling at the Guys in Green to take it into the paint (per NBC Sports Brian Scalabrine): I don't believe in chemistry. I believe in fit. I believe in basketball being played a certain way. When you play that way, everyone thinks you have great chemistry. This team can love each other, they can have S’mores, singing “Kumbaya" with guitars out there. If they don't get to the restricted area and they don't get to the free-throw line, especially with this defensive frontcourt they have, this team is not going to be that good. Now, if the C's can attack the restricted area -- and I look a lot at Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward -- if those guys are attac...

Why Boston Celtics fans and The Celtics Center love Brian Scalabrine

Why the Hell am I writing about former Boston Celtics forward, Brian Scalabrine? I need to get this out of the way right from the start! I fully admit this is an unabashed attempt to get The White Mamba on our The Celtics Center podcast. Whew - that felt good - honesty first. But Boston Celtics fans really do love Brian. So does Danny Ainge. No, Trader Danny didn't work a deal for him. He signed him as a free agent in 2005 for FIVE YEARS - yes, five whole years at $15 million. Scal best seasons were behind him, having averaged 6.3 PPG and 4.5 RPG during the 2004-05 season with the Nets. Despite five less-than-star-quality seasons with Boston, The White Mamba became a true fan favorite. The Ultimate Brian Scalabrine Highlight Video https://t.co/w0nPWh1IOE via @YouTube — Tom Lane (@CelticsSentinel) August 28, 2019 Scal hails from Enumclaw, Washington. I had to check Wikipedia to determine if there is such a place. One has to check this stuff when the name of a town sounds like...
