Why these NBA Finals are good for basketball

Bucks vs Suns is good for basketball and the NBA! While the main stream fan who is only into the big names will say this final doesn't have KD, Harden or LBJ so I'm not watching . Well there are plenty of reasons to watch. First let's start with the Bucks who have the Greek Freak leading them with other unheralded stars like Kris Middleton and Jrue Holiday . Hard nosed players like PJ Tucker and Bobby Portis Jr .      The Suns are lead by Chris Paul and a burgeoning star in D Book . A true big in DeAndre Ayton and Mikal Bridges who can just about do everything. A blossoming coach in Monty Williams who has maximized this roster and they play as he did with heart and savvy.       Both the Suns and Bucks have had very long absences from the NBA Finals and both fan bases deserve to enjoy this ride to the fullest. These two teams represent the word Team . Basketball has and will always be a team game. Lead by stars but the pieces ...

Suns defense and transition game a model for Celtics

The surprise Phoenix Suns took out the Milwaukee Bucks last night, with the final score 118-105. The Suns' defense forced the Bucks to turn the ball over 13 times, resulting in 20 fast-break points.  Turnovers were a problem for the Milwaukee Bucks, with eight of them coming in the first half as the Phoenix Suns forced them to cough up the ball with suffocating defense. Though they trimmed their turnovers down to just six in the second half, the Bucks still allowed the Suns to score often in transition (20 points on fastbreaks). Deandre Ayton was exceptional in transition for the Phoenix Suns, moving down the lane to receive a pass from teammates and get easy baskets with no bigs in the middle. Many Celtics fans would love to see this fast-paced style in Boston this coming season. Smothering defense - forced turnovers - quick outlet passes - run and gun - easy hoops. The 2021-22 version of The Green has the tools - the right players. Granted, the Celtics don't have their own...

#27 pick, Rob Williams vs. Deandre Ayton (#1) and Marvin Bagley (#2)

The Celtics Rob Williams was taken 26 picks (#27) after the Suns chose Deandre Ayton first-overall in the 2018 NBA draft. Here's a quick look at how they compare-stat-wise this season - on a per-36-minutes basis. Williams III 16.0 PPG - 13.3 RPG - 3.4 APG - 1.8 SPG - 3.6 BPG - .729 FG Ayton 17.4 PPG - 12.7 RPG - 1.7 APG - 0.5 SPG - 1.5 BPG - .611 FG The points and rebounds are very close, but Robert gets the nod on assists, steals, blocks and field goal percentage. While we're at it, the second-overall pick in the same draft was center, Marvin Bagley .  Bagley 19.4 PPG - 10.4 RPG - 1.3 APG - 0.7 SPG - 0.7 BPG - .499 FG Rob takes honors versus Bagley in all of these statistics except points per game. This is not to say that Celtics boss, Danny Ainge , did a masterful job "stealing" Williams at the tail end of the draft. Rob was projected to get taken much sooner, and he merely to fell to Boston at number-27. But the 3rd-year center is quickly emerging and may prove t...

So, do you think the Celtics could have used Aron Baynes last night?

The Boston Celtics could really use a big, tough defensive-minded center that can stretch the floor. It now seems they had one until they traded Aron Baynes to the Phoenix Suns last summer in order to clear cap space. In the Phoenix Suns 127-117 win over the Portland Trailblazers last night, Baynes came away with 37 points, 16 boards and two blocks. Get this! He shot 52% from the field, 9-of-14 on treys, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Aron Baynes made history tonight 😤 pic.twitter.com/bVi405oRwk — Entirely Sports (@Entirely_Sports) March 7, 2020 The 33-year-old Australian is shooting 36% on 3-pointers for the Suns this season, and he remains one tough defender for opponents in the painted area. That part of Aron's game has not changed. He is virtually unmovable under the hoop and will take on any player brave enough to attack the rim. Yes, Aron Baynes hit 9 threes in one of the most dominant single game performances in NBA history. He also just stood th...
