Free agent center options for Boston Celtics

Celtics center, Kristaps Porzingis , has recently undergone foot/ankle surgery, and is not expected back on the floor until late November or early December. I have already broached Daniel Theis as a viable free agent option for Boston who might sign on for a vet-minimum deal , and there are a few other possibilities out there ( per Yahoo Sports Morten Stig Jensen ): 4.  Andre Drummond ,  Chicago Bulls Andre Drummond C - CHI - #3 2023 - 2024 SEASON 8.4 Pts 9 Reb 0.9 Stl 0.6 Blk 17:06 Min Status: unrestricted free agent 2023-24 salary: $3,360,000 2023-24 digits: 8.4 points, 9 rebound and 0.5 assists In recent years, Drummond has come off the bench. He's made the pivot that Valančiūnas is on the threshold of. However, Drummond's impact could be viewed as starting caliber-worthy through the proper lens. As his generation's best rebounder and one of the best of all time in that department, Drummond is elite on the offensive glass (3.4 in 17.1 minutes this year), whi...

Daniel Theis traded twice by Celtics. Could he return this season?

Could Daniel Theis return to the Celtics this season for a third stint in Boston? It may be more-likely that he heads overseas, but Brad Stevens may be thinking of bringing the German C/F free agent back into the fold on a vet-minimum deal . In the 2020-21 season in Beantown , Theis averaged 9.5 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.6 APG and 1.0 BPG in 24.4 minutes per contest . He is an active and willing defender and a solid guy on the boards . Daniel may be looking for significant minutes with any NBA team he eventually chooses, and with Kristaps Porzingis being uncertain for the start of the season after ankle surgery - in addition to Al Horford turning 38 this coming season - Theis could see those kind of minutes.  At 6'8" and 245 pounds , the German import may be somewhat undersized for the center spot, but he has a lot of experience at Five-spot and won't turn 33 until April. He may have enough left in the tank for Brad Stevens to give him another shot - if indeed Theis wants to ...

Celtics Oshae Brissett heading for free agency

Oshae Brissett is reportedly declining his player option for the upcoming season and will test the market as a free agent. Brissett signed a 2-year deal last summer, with the s econd season set at $2.5 million and with a player option . He will be looking for a bigger role and more money . His minutes in Boston last season were the lowest (11.5 MPG) since his rookie season. Oshae Brissett is declining his $2.5M player option with the Boston Celtics for the 2024-25 season, a league source told @spotrac . Brissett will now be an unrestricted free agent this summer. — Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) June 23, 2024 So now begins the off-season for the newly-crowned Champion Boston Celtics. Brissett's decision may be beneficial for a Boston team that is looking for low-cost bench players to complement its very-expensive core.

Unfinished business for Gordon Hayward in Boston

We should know in a few days if Gordon Hayward has decided to leave for greener fields or complete his unfinished business with The Green Team. It's his choice - or should I say it comes down to what he and his family (and Danny Ainge) can agree on. Using the "empathy test", can any of us place ourselves in Gordon's place and honestly say we would have endured that compost pile of misfortune as well as he did? Gordon Hayward embraced Boston. He's had terrible luck. He's still their biggest free agent signing of all time (sorry Nique and X, you guys were past your prime).  I hope he sticks around and tries to finish what he started. I will be bummed if he leaves. pic.twitter.com/CRM3b7UJXV — Frosty Bias (@frostybias) November 13, 2020 Hayward has the option of picking up final year priced at $34.2 million or leaving it on the table and heading into free agency. With regards to Gordon's value in Boston, there are two sides: Celtics don't need a 4th volu...

Will Kyrie Irving try to lure Kevin Durant to Boston - or elsewhere?

It is a well-know fact that the NBA's All-Star Weekend is also a time for recruiting. And I mean by that - stars from one team will try to attract other stars to their teams. Kevin Durant is currently earning $30 million for this season with a player option for 2019-20. Kyrie Irving also has a player option on his contract with the Celtics this summer, so the plot thickens. I’m dying 😂😂😂 https://t.co/f2Bxg0yp6P — chicinthegeɘk🚺 (@chicinthegeek) February 18, 2019 Durant has been basically signing one year contracts (with player options) with the Golden State Warriors and feeling his way along from year to year. It may be major-decision time this summer. He can opt out of his contract and negotiate a long-term deal with the Warriors or any other team. So can Kyrie Irving ( per Bleacher Report's Adam Wells ): Just one of those things where you’re confident in your skills and taking it year by year,” Durant explained. “And keeping my options open was the best thing for me...
