Tough start heading south

It is Tuesday, February 3, 2026, and the cold weather, ice and snow arenn almost gone from the area of our rental in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. Getting here from Northern New Hampshire had some glitches, but our first few days down here were an absolute nightmare. PHOTO By LINDA LANE ` We had to postpone the start of our trip from New England due to an expected "STORM-ZILLA" intent on interupting out journey. Coolers, blocks of ice, an outhouse, propane lanterns, a wood stove, spring water and a battery-powered radio provided what we needed. It was simple perfection. The bottom two photos are of a trailer we owned at an ocean campground - starting in 1981 - right on the water - and "Russell's Lobster Shack" across the street where we would have the lobsterman cook his catch for pickup. Our first trailer cos...
