Banners or Bust

Close your eyes, imagine this scenario... Come late June we see two trophies hoisted, one is the Stanley Cup, one is the Larry O'Brien trophy. Two parades, and bragging rights for a year. David Pastrňák and Jayson Tatum both bring home their respective post season MVP trophies. Endless championship gear, making memories with your families!  Back to reality, I feel that the Celtics and the Bruins have excellent chances at winning it all. Both teams are constructed and built to win. They each have excellent depth. Most importantly they have the love and support of their fans.  It's been way too long since each of these franchises have won. The time is now! There is no tomorrow, it's about winning and only winning. The roads will not be easy, but it will be worth it in the end. From a sports perspective I've never wanted anything more sports wise than seeing each of these teams win it all. Time will tell..... 🍀☘️🏀 🐻🏒

Trade Payton Pritchard or play him - second plea

This is not the first time I have strongly advocated that Payton Pritchard either needs more floor time in Boston - or needs to be traded. My comparisons to 5-time All-Star, Gail Goodrich, have gone missing. Goodrich played at a time most NBA fans don't recall. I am not basing my argument on only today's win over the Hawks and the triple-double by the short, not-particularly-athletic white guy Boston fans know as Payton Pritchard. His 30 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists were no fluke ( per NBA.Coms Ken Powtak ): "He (Payton Pritchard) became just the third player in team history to reach 30 points, with 14 rebounds and 11 assists in a game, joining Hall of Famers Larry Bird and John Havlicek." Hey Celtics fans, do you remember Bird and Hondo? As I remember, they were pretty good. Sorry to get so cynical.  Let me explain my bias on this issue.   Pritchard is the guy many of us, including me, can relate to. He is undersized by NBA standards and is not particularly...

Oddsmakers have it wrong. Celtics Malcolm Brogdon for 6th-Man-of-the-Year

The oddsmakers have it wrong . Most show the Knicks Immanuel Quickley having the best shot at being named NBA 6th-Man-of-the-Year over the Celtics Malcolm Brogdon. Immanuel Quickley's odds to win Sixth Man of the Year at @BetMGM +25000: Two weeks ago +6600: Last week +175: Before Celtics game -130: Now pic.twitter.com/AGcj6FXuAV — John Ewing 🦁 (@johnewing) March 6, 2023 Quickly's rise over the last month has a lot to do with his scoring and the fact New York defeated Boston ( per HardwoodHoudini's Eric Fritts ):  " Malcolm Brogdon was and still is among those with high odds but the favorite has shifted to New York Knick Immanuel Quickley, whose odds went from +175 before defeating Boston to -130 after, per MGM Sportsbook." Here are the comparative stats for both over the regular season: Brogdon: 14.9 PPG-.484 FG-.444 3s-.870 FT-4.2 RPG-3.7 APG Quickley:  12.2 PPG-.435 FG-.352 3s-.803 FT-3.7 RPG-2.9 APG The Sixth-Man-of-the-Year award is determined (or shoul...

These Raptors May Be Extinct

These Raptors May be extinct after tonight's game, but we have the Unicorn in uniform! Not exactly sure why the C's decided to play most of their guys. Tonight's game has no bearing on anything! If I was the C's I'd be resting everyone!  This Raptors team and organization has fallen hard. They had that one magic in a bottle year with KLeonard, and luckily caught the Warriors because of injuries. Since that time, they are no longer relevant. They may be in the play in, but to me that means nothing!  It's looking more and more like the C's could match up with the Miami Heat if they beat the Hawks in the play in. If not it will be Atlanta. Who do I prefer we face...  It doesn't matter! Whether it's the Heat or Hawks I expect the C's to crush them. These playoffs should show this group out to destroy each and every competitor. Yes the Heat gave them fits last year, but the C's won't fall into that trap again.  This Celtics team had been ultr...

CelticsSentinel Citation Award. Cast your vote.

Jaylen Brown has won the Red Auerbach Award given annually to the player that "best exemplifies the spirit and meaning of what it means to be a Celtic" . It is a well-deserved honor for the star wing , but at CelticsSentinel we tend to focus on those members of The Green that may be somewhat-unheralded when presenting out CelticsSentinel Citation Award. Here are some thoughts from Tom and The Celtic Knight. Tom: My attention for our award goes to Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White . Brogdon was a starter in Milwaukee and Indiana before coming to Beantown. He has accepted his bench role with professionalism and grace, and he is a major reason Boston has such a winning record.  “Coming off the bench it can be a challenge sometimes, to be honest," Brogdon said. “That's where you've got to suck it up. You're not going to score as much. You're not going to play as much. I think that is what makes a great team - having guys that are able to do that. Guys tha...

Raptors Invade TD Garden! Toronto vs Boston!

We have some basketball for you tonight! Raptors Invade the Boston Garden to take on the Celtics!  Congrats to Jaylen Marselles Brown on winning the Red Auerbach Award! A well deserved honor to get that award names for the Greatest Coach of All Time! Nice to see Rob the Lob out there. He's is going to need to be fully healthy this post season. If he is the C's will be the team to beat! He does so much on both ends. An excellent rebounder, defender, and Tommy point getter!  Jaylen Brown has to be one of the quickest players getting to the basket. It's like watching lightning but in the form of a basketball player! We are going to need that type of aggression all playoffs. If he is in attack mode, no defender will be able to stop him! His game has come a long way this season and expect greatness in the playoffs.  Derrick White has been a jack of all trades this season. He's a stud/star in my book. He has all the offensive tools in the shed necessary to win. His defen...

Celtics-76'ers rivalry could provide drama in second round

Last night's Celtics/76'ers game went fast for me. It always seems to happen when the two teams clash. It came down to the wire, with Philly coming away with the win. Boston appears to have Philly's number, but always have trouble containing the big guy, Joel Embiid . He had a line of 52 points, 13 boards and six assists and made it look easy . He shot 80% from the field and 92% from the free throw line . Grant Williams did his best to slow down Joel but continually got abused by the big man.  The Celtics definitely missed Jaylen Brown (back issues) and Rob Williams, and Payton Pritchard once again never saw the floor. Mike Muscala and Luke Kornet were in for significant minutes but had limited effect on the on the outcome. The Green seemed to get a boost when Blake Griffin came in , but he only logged eight minutes. Philadelphia remains pretty much a Joel Embiid/James Harden show, while Boston is definitely deeper, with Derrick White, Malcolm Brogdon, Al Horford, Marcu...
