Celtic Pride

Well it's the first game at the Boston Garden, and this team is already under the microscope. Losing that huge lead in Detriot lingers over them. Not to mention the heat Jayson Tatum is receiving after one subpar game. I find the media to be very fickle. There are 82 games a year and every once in a while you won't have your best. The Jayson Tatum I know will come back tonight ready to ball and show who he is. I truly feel we will see who this team is mea t ro be tonight. Expect JT, PP, and DWhite to show why we believe in these Celtics. At least I still do...

Tipoff is here, will we see PG13 score thirty plus again? Everyone knows my distaste for how much Brunson flops out there. Let's see how many calls he's able to generate on flops. Cs are rocking the same starting line up as they did in Detroit. I'm definitely not sold with Jordan Walsh being in the starting lineup. JT gets in the low block and scores off Hart. I truly feel JT needs to do so much more of that. As we know Kobe is his guy so start playing like em down on the block. JT hits his first three of the season and it was pure. JT has all the gifts necessary to be a complete player and eventually all time great.

From the sound of things there are way too many Knicks fans in the Garden. Derrick White looks out of sorts tonight. A few turnovers from him early on and it's very concerning. He truly needs to be a key piece for this team. His defense is always elite, but we need the complete package. He is one of the best rebounding guards in the league. When his offense is clicking he's clutch. I'm hoping that he will pick things up and knock down a few shots. If he finds his flow tonight it will be a long night for the Knicks.

The Celtics defense has not been very effective thus far. This first quarter thus far has shown that we really need to work on attacking the rim. The reliance on the three ball is truly a problem. Especially when they are not finding the bottom of the net. So many opportunities missed by jacking up threes. Why not turn those misses into high percentage shots around the rim or mid range. Basketball is simple at its core but analytics have truly ruined it. It feels as though the Knicks have lived in the bonus during this first quarter.

Luka Garza has been extremely active tonight on both ends. You really have to love a guy like him. He's scoring inside and out tonight. Not to mention forcing charges on the other end. He's been solid since he signed here with the Celtics. Yet another diamond in the rough Brad Stevens has found. PG13 has been impressive on the defensive end tonight. I have to say I love seeing him on D. His passing game is underrated and has shown me something tonight. I think I'm warming to watching PG13 on a regular basis. As long as he stays relatively healthy.

Good to see Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in the crowd tonight. I had the pleasure of meeting them both during the Hall of Fame enshrinement. Talk about dreams coming true! PG13 ends the half with a corner three to give the Cs a slim lead. Cs will need to continue to push the pace on offense. So far they have frustrated the flop master and if that continues good things will come. JT has given us a solid half and he looks confident out there.

JT has done an excellent job of getting himself into good scoring positions. He's not settling for threes but working on hitting the mid range to post area. He's done quite the job of finding and rewarding his teammates. He could become a legit triple double candidate each game. I'm extremely pleased seeing him attacking the paint. The Celtics defense has been amped up here in the third and giving the Knicks issues. If they keep it up good things will happen. So far they have 15 points of the Knicks 13 turnovers.

The Celtics defense in the third was all over the Knicks for the most part. That's the kind of basketball I want to watch! I love a hard working team ready to get down and dirty on Defense. This Celtucs intensity on D needs to be recognized. If they want this win its going to take the same effort in the fourth. Mitchell Robinson with an emphatic block on one end and follows it up with an emphatic dunk on the other. That's why the Celtics brought him to Boston! Good to see Neemie bringing the fire here in the 4th as well.

JT hit clutch after clutch shot here in the fourth. For all those who crapped on him during these past few days shame on you! The true greats always find a way to bounce back. Damn near triple double tonight. I truly hope all those that complained about him eat crow. Overall tonight was a solid win. Defensively the Cs made some exceptional plays. Offensively they left points out there but made the plays when needed. Celtic Pride!

A sorrowful farewell to Kitty's Restaurant (North Reading, MA) as a family tradition

Time to say "Goodbye" to Kitty's Restaurant - my   family's destination and tradition for six generations and more than 80 years. My memories of Kitty's go back to the early-1950's . I would accompany my dad and grandfather on fishing trips to the Ipswich River in North Reading, Massachusetts - followed by a visit to the restaurant on Main Street. In later years, my wife, Linda, and I would eat there with our two kids, Marc and Lisa - and years later - with our two grand daughters - and still later - with our great grandson, Carson. Author and family at Kitty's approx. 10 years ago Kitty's never disappointed. The drinks were big and well-made . The food was terrific - as were the portions. The service was exceptional and we became well-acquainted with the waiters and waitresses. It all worked so very well for many decades. My grand daughter, Courtney , was particularly fond of the restaurant. She was born with cystic fibrosis , and during her fr...

Wemby versus Kareem as rookies

We already know that the Spurs Victor Wembanyama is going to be an NBA phenomenon, but will he surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by the end of his career. It is highly likely.  I did a "per-36-minutes" comparison between the two stars, mainly because Kareem logged 43.1 MPG in his rookie campaign - while Wemby has been held to only 29.4 MPG. Kareem: 24.1 PPG - 12.1 RPG - 3.4 APG - .518 FG - .653 FT Wemby:  25.9 PPG - 12.9 RPG - 4.5 APG - .463 FG - .796 FT No blocks, steals or 3-pointers were looked at since they were not tracked in Jabbar's first year in the NBA. It should also be noted that Kareem was 22 years old at the time, while Victor started at age 20. Two factors favoring Wembanyama ultimately surpassing Jabbar on any "Best-of-All-Time" charts are his point guard skills , shared by so many European players.  and the fact he is being mentored by Gregg Popovich. His potential seems astounding. But the question remains. Can he garner six Titles and six MVP ...
