Brooklyn in Boston

Tonight we see the lowly Brooklyn Nets enter the Boston Garden. I want to see this team build off these last few wins. How cool is it that Allen Iverson said Payton Pritchard is the coldest white boy ever! Talk about high praise from a Hall of Famer. Oh and I shook hands with that Hall of Famer during Enshrinement. Interesting news in tonight's game everyone will be playing in this back to back. That's a good sign from a group of guys who want to play this beautiful game of basketball.

Mitchell Robinson is truly an elite rebounder and knows where to position his body.  He makes plays for a big that are unexpected. That one where he catches the ball midair was totally awesome. He's very nimble and quick for a big! He even has some shake on the offensive end as he spins and gets to the hoop for a foul. If he's able to stay healthy this season he's gonna have a career year. Dude is just a solid player overall and does his job. I love players like that, who know their game ans execute.

Cs have moments where the ball movement is like a beautiful melody. The play I'm speaking of is where Pritchard found Walsh for open three in the first quarter. PP is a quality passer who finds guys in their spots. On top of that he's an assassin from deep and gets to the paint or rim at will. He's extremely shifty and does this start and stop that just fools the defense. It's quite the change of pace on a literal dime. Why he's the coldest white boy in the league. According to the great Allen Iverson, who knows ball.

JT and Neemie are building quite the connection on the floor. They have successfully found each other on a few plays. JT knows how to use his bigs. This Celtics team can be very careless with the ball. Way too many turnovers so far in this game. If they want to push the pace they better protect the ball. Currently speaking they need to buckle down and trim this Nets lead. They better not drop this game to an inferior team. I'm starting to worry about Derrick White and his shot... yet he nails a three.

The way the C's are attacking the rim is beyond beautiful to me. Why because that's BASKETBALL! Plus their defensive intensity has amped up and made plays. If the Cs want this win these are the things that need to be done. Attack and fight on each play on both ends of the floor. I'm really excited that JT is attacking the rim over jacking up threes. He's been living at the line in this first half. He should be able to this on a regular basis.

Cs will need to play much better in the second half to pull out this win. They better lock in on defense and shut down these Nets. I want Tatum to continue to attack the rim and find his teammates in their sweet spots. This run by the Cs in the third was inspiring especially with how they played defense. Garza, PP, Sam, Baylor and of course JT all made key plays and shots. Garza has been a guy I love to watch play this game. Certain lineups just gel and make the right plays, and they did it to. T! A key 16-5 run was huge.

I love the way in which the Cs are attacking the Nets in the 4th. Putting the pressure on them defensively and pushing the pace. I'm finding this year's offense to be more fluid with less over dribbling. The ball has been zipping around the floor! PG and DW have both gotten key baskets here. That's what you need your top players to do. I have to shout out Jordan Walsh for his defense and his shooting tonight.  That young man works his butt off! PG13 has played a very solid 4th getting in the paint and scoring. Plus he's been darn good on defense all season.

The Cs are making key play after key here in the 4th quarter. PG13 made big plays in this fourth. JT has made his presence felt as the leader of this team. DWhite came thru on both ends of the floor. Tonight's game has been the ultimate team win. I'm impressed overall with their ball movement and pace of play. Defensively they need work but when needed they lock it down. This team is taking on the vision of Brad and Joe. Celtics get a rough call on Queta which screws the Cs. We go to OT and it starts to fall apart, yet these Cs are INEVITABLE!

Cs with the ball down one into JT with the JUMPER... WINNER! Cs WIN! CELTIC PRIDE!

A sorrowful farewell to Kitty's Restaurant (North Reading, MA) as a family tradition

Time to say "Goodbye" to Kitty's Restaurant - my   family's destination and tradition for six generations and more than 80 years. My memories of Kitty's go back to the early-1950's . I would accompany my dad and grandfather on fishing trips to the Ipswich River in North Reading, Massachusetts - followed by a visit to the restaurant on Main Street. In later years, my wife, Linda, and I would eat there with our two kids, Marc and Lisa - and years later - with our two grand daughters - and still later - with our great grandson, Carson. Author and family at Kitty's approx. 10 years ago Kitty's never disappointed. The drinks were big and well-made . The food was terrific - as were the portions. The service was exceptional and we became well-acquainted with the waiters and waitresses. It all worked so very well for many decades. My grand daughter, Courtney , was particularly fond of the restaurant. She was born with cystic fibrosis , and during her fr...

Wemby versus Kareem as rookies

We already know that the Spurs Victor Wembanyama is going to be an NBA phenomenon, but will he surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by the end of his career. It is highly likely.  I did a "per-36-minutes" comparison between the two stars, mainly because Kareem logged 43.1 MPG in his rookie campaign - while Wemby has been held to only 29.4 MPG. Kareem: 24.1 PPG - 12.1 RPG - 3.4 APG - .518 FG - .653 FT Wemby:  25.9 PPG - 12.9 RPG - 4.5 APG - .463 FG - .796 FT No blocks, steals or 3-pointers were looked at since they were not tracked in Jabbar's first year in the NBA. It should also be noted that Kareem was 22 years old at the time, while Victor started at age 20. Two factors favoring Wembanyama ultimately surpassing Jabbar on any "Best-of-All-Time" charts are his point guard skills , shared by so many European players.  and the fact he is being mentored by Gregg Popovich. His potential seems astounding. But the question remains. Can he garner six Titles and six MVP ...
