Analytics have ruined sports

I truly can't understand how a 22 point lead goes away... and or how do you allow a run of 23 to 0 to happen? This makes no logical sense to me as a basketball lover. Time and time again every iteration of these three happy Cs blow huge leads and lose games. One game doesn't define a season but after all the shake ups in the off season, I expect better results. With that said JT played poorly on the offensive end. His assist numbers were nice but everything else was disappointing. I don't believe this is going to be a pattern but I expected more from him today. With that said he and the Celtics will bounce back going forward.

I was not very pleased with trading for Paul George, doesn't mean I don't like his game. I just feel he's underperformed in his career. After today's throw back game I was pleasantly surprised. What we saw today is his true upside as a player. Throughout his career he's put on some good performances. I will watch him with an open mind and feel he will contribute to this team being an eventual success. He does have a game that compliments JT and hopefully he can get in his ear and have him ready for Friday night.

I liked pieces of what I saw in Mitchell Robinson. Except for his poor free throw shooting. What he brings to the table is an incredible rebounder and great shot blocker something the Cs lack. Neemie gives his best but at times he can get overwhelmed. Garza was out of place today and didn't show me much. I need to see more from Derrick White and Payton Pritchard. If this team is going to win we need our core players to put in the work. We have seen both of them put up 40 points in the same game.

I have taken a deeper dive into the stats of everyone and it's very pedestrian. If it wasn't for PG13 the Pistons would have dog walked us today. If any of JT, PP, or DW played better we would have won. I want more from Joe as a Coach, he needs to adapt and get away from 3 happy garbage. I will always watch the Cs no matter what and expect a better outcome on Friday night. I feel all sports are too analytically driven as opposed to knowing and feeling the game. Celtic Pride!

A sorrowful farewell to Kitty's Restaurant (North Reading, MA) as a family tradition

Time to say "Goodbye" to Kitty's Restaurant - my   family's destination and tradition for six generations and more than 80 years. My memories of Kitty's go back to the early-1950's . I would accompany my dad and grandfather on fishing trips to the Ipswich River in North Reading, Massachusetts - followed by a visit to the restaurant on Main Street. In later years, my wife, Linda, and I would eat there with our two kids, Marc and Lisa - and years later - with our two grand daughters - and still later - with our great grandson, Carson. Author and family at Kitty's approx. 10 years ago Kitty's never disappointed. The drinks were big and well-made . The food was terrific - as were the portions. The service was exceptional and we became well-acquainted with the waiters and waitresses. It all worked so very well for many decades. My grand daughter, Courtney , was particularly fond of the restaurant. She was born with cystic fibrosis , and during her fr...

Wemby versus Kareem as rookies

We already know that the Spurs Victor Wembanyama is going to be an NBA phenomenon, but will he surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by the end of his career. It is highly likely.  I did a "per-36-minutes" comparison between the two stars, mainly because Kareem logged 43.1 MPG in his rookie campaign - while Wemby has been held to only 29.4 MPG. Kareem: 24.1 PPG - 12.1 RPG - 3.4 APG - .518 FG - .653 FT Wemby:  25.9 PPG - 12.9 RPG - 4.5 APG - .463 FG - .796 FT No blocks, steals or 3-pointers were looked at since they were not tracked in Jabbar's first year in the NBA. It should also be noted that Kareem was 22 years old at the time, while Victor started at age 20. Two factors favoring Wembanyama ultimately surpassing Jabbar on any "Best-of-All-Time" charts are his point guard skills , shared by so many European players.  and the fact he is being mentored by Gregg Popovich. His potential seems astounding. But the question remains. Can he garner six Titles and six MVP ...
