I recently wrote of the Boston Celtics needing more size up front and the addition of post-season-tested vets. Brad Stevens has (at least) taken care of that need by trading for 35-year-old Bulls center Nikola Vucevic - in exchange for Boston guard Anfernee Simons.

Vucevic was the 16th-overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft and is a 2-time All-Star, He has always been a double-double machine in points and rebounds (career 17.2 PPG, 10.4 RPG) - can hit the 3-pointer (35.1%) - and can score close to the hoop (49.8% FG).
At 6'9" and 260 pounds, Nikola can mix it up underneath. He has 16 playoff games under his belt, and hia addition to Boston's roster appears to not simply being about cutting costs. With Jayson Tatum probably heading back to action soon, a starting-5 of Vucevic, Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Payton Pritchard and Derrick White should be in the cards.
Neemias Queta may return to his bench role, but should maintain significant minutes at the center spot. Luka Garza's floor time may take a hit. But with Nikola's ability to stretch the floor, Boston fans may see a Joe Mazzulla experiment with Vucevic at PF and Queta at center. With another day to the trade deadline, Stevens may not be done dealing.
