"--- selfless play, on-and-off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other players, and commitment and dedication to team."
Sounds like the Celtics Al Horford, doesn't it? Well, the NBA has chosen 12 players as candidates for Teammate-of-the-Year, and Al is one of them. League players will pick the eventual winner.
Horford is only averaging 27.2 MPG this season as Joe Mazzulla tries to keep him fresh for the upcoming playoffs. But his per-36-minutes stats stand out:
11.4 PPG - 8.6 RPG - 3.5 APG - 0.8 SPG - 1.3 BPG - 1.0 TOPG - .506 FG - .421 3s - .893 FT
But we are talking just stats here. We are broaching character, leadership, morality and team play. I have loved Al Horford - even when he was with the Hawks - and making life miserable for his Boston opponents.
The NBA today announced the finalists for the 2023-24 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.

A 2024 Title ring would look great on the finger of this "Dominican Gentleman", but right now, winning Teammate-of-the-Year will suffice. He is damn deserving of it.
