Game One in the Big Apple

Game one of eighty two finds our beloved Boston Celtics in the big apple. Looking to take a big bite out of the Knickerbockers. Personally speaking I feel the lore of the Knicks is overrated! With that said I expect to see a team in the Boston Celtics that is ready to show a glimpse of who they can be! We here at the Sentinel want to wish Mike Gorman the best on his final year and we thank him for all the memories! We also want to welcome Drew Carter and hope he has a great start to his career!

1st Quarter 🍀🏀☘️

JT opened up the scoring by using his body inside. That's what we need to see more of from him. He can physically dominate his opponents. Utilize the gifts you have as a player. JT has a wide variety of gifts on the basketball court. I fully expect him to be in the MVP conversation.

Porzingis looks like a gazelle out there. It's so awesome to see the Celtics have a big that can do a number of things on the floor. What I never realized is how long he is out there. He's gonna be a problem on both ends no matter who is guarding him. Dude can shoot! The way he spreads the floor is unreal.

JB seems to be pressing out there and looks a tad out of control given the early turnover. He just needs to learn to let the game come to him. If he plays within the flow of this team he's gonna flourish. Love seeing him in transition getting to the cup with ease.

Jrue Holiday with the three off the dribble making the Knicks look silly. Expect a lot of those beautiful threes going in this season from Jrue. Not to mention getting to the rack and posting dudes up! I've always respected Jrue, but now I love him!

Defensively they played rather well in the first. I'd love to see them amp it up even more as the game progresses. Offensively we saw some good things out there. I'd love to see more pick and rolls with Tatum and Porzingis. That to me could be the cheat code of the year. Celtics lead 30-18 after one.

2nd Quarter 🍀☘️🏀

DWhite comes into the second quarter and rips a three! I fully expect him to have another impressive year. I love his entire skill set! He's a guy who just flows so well on this team. A guard who can do what ever is needed. Even block a few shots sometimes. These moving screen calls against Al are absolutely awful.

I feel this entire Knicks roster is overrated... Randle is just a bully out there and his offensive game is pure luck. Hart and Brunson are overrated as well. Barrett is an ok player but definitely not consistent enough. Quickly carries the ball on every possession!

Sam I am... Isn't right now. His shot looks rough at the start. We have some Kornet time going on and he really does give it all he has. He's a cerebral player, but his athletic ability leaves a little to be desired. Personally I'd love to see Brissett get some run tonight. He's an energy guy with a nice skill set.

Celtics are getting very lax out there, don't play with your food guys. Man does Randle commits offensive fouls on almost every play. It's maddening to watch! You have to love Porzingis swatting Randles weak a$& shot out there. Porzingis with another excellent block this time on the Knicks center. What an underrated part of his game! Love the excellent defense. Celtics lead 51- 46.

3rd Quarter 🏀☘️🍀

JT looking as smooth as butter out there tonight. His shot is straight money! Looking like he might go for forty! His overall game has evolved since he entered the league. Each year he gets better. He truly has the potential to be the next great Celtic!

Love how the C's are getting out in transition. Push that pace is what Tommy Heinsohn would be saying! Run Run Run! Man do I miss him on these games. It's gonna be the end of an era with Mike retiring. He and Tommy are like family to us fans who have been watching the Celtics our whole lives.

Anyone else feel at ease seeing Sam Cassell on the bench. He's up and jawing at the officials. Gotta love that! JB gets ripped with a hard foul and he's ready to get at it! Give me that fire all day! Now hopefully that awakens JB because he's been very quiet tonight except for that hammer dunk earlier...

Time for the Celtics to tighten up on D! How about a nice 10-0 run for the good guys?! C's are going to need to settle themselves and just let the game flow. Porzingis is back in the game, need him to come up big. Boy do these Knicks players complain on every call... It's sickening!

Great box out from JB, it's those kinds of plays that lead to wins. He isn't scoring per his normal but he's out there giving his best. That's the mark of a leader. In Marcus Smarts absence this is now the Jays team. They need to lead by example out there.

Despite a bit of a rocky road in the third the Celtics have the lead. They need to now become the ultimate fourth quarter team and bury the Knickerbockers. Celtics lead 82-73.

4th quarter ☘️🏀🍀🏀

Not liking the start to the fourth for the C's. They need to get Jrue and JB back into this game. Hauser and Pritchard are not hitting their shots. Way too many misses from them. Some how the Celtics find themselves trailing. A much needed timeout by Joe.

Are we seeing what ailed the C's last year??? Playing with your food instead of eating it?? They will need to buckle down here if they want to win. I can't stand Quickly at all, and he plays above himself vs the Celtics.

What a disgusting game right now. How do you fall asleep at the wheel of a game you should be winning comfortably. At this point it's just sickening... The way these Knicks cry on every foul is bad for the game. A bunch of over achievers, who play above themselves vs the C's. It's maddening!

Porzingis for three! For the lead! Up yours is what he's saying to the Knicks fans. Love what I've seen from him tonight! He's been balling on both ends of the floor tonight. Brad trading for him giving up a fan favorite is something Red would have done.

C's with a very slim lead... They need to get the ball in and hit their free throws and put these over achieving Knicks to bed! It's up to PP to earn that contract he received this summer. Onions for PP!

Celtics find a way to win what turned into an ugly game. 108-104.

Celtic Pride! Bleed Green!

In defense of Marcus Smart

Let me make it clear first of all that I am totally against making a threat of any kind that even hints at harming, or certainly killing, another human being. Marcus Smart was wrong in doing so in the Celtics loss to the tanking Oklahoma City Thunder , and he deserved the one-game suspension. But to be honest, part of me loved that it occurred. . This type of thing can happen when a player gets to a point "beyond frustration" and is having a bad game. Marcus and his teammates have been under-performing generally - were in the process of losing to a pathetic-and-tanking Thunder team - and Smart was having a bad game . And he let loose verbally at the closest target - an NBA official. Wilt Chamberlain did a similar act versus referee, Earl Strom when Wilt was having his usual tortuous time at the free throw line (per Chicago Tribune's Sam Smith): ''He was in one of those 1-for-13s,'' recalls referee Earl Strom. ''Nothing was getting close. S

Did the Celtics Kevin McHale really have a wingspan of 8-feet?

According to many sources, the Celtics Kevin McHale did indeed have an estimated wingspan of 8-feet. One of those sources is Wikipedia, as seen below: Kevin McHale American basketball player DescriptionKevin Edward McHale is an American retired basketball player who played his entire professional career for the Boston Celtics. He is a Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, and is regarded as one of the best power forwards of all time. He was named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.
