Rob Williams ceiling can be at least that of DeAndre Jordan

The Celtics' Rob Williams is heading into his third season in the NBA, and no one is sure of his ceiling. Injuries and restricted playing time have produced uncertainty.

But I do envision him as a shorter, lighter version of DeAndre Jordan, and my numerical comparison between the two players may show promise for Williams III. Jordan, at 6'11" and 265 pounds was the 45th pick in the 2008 NBA draft. Rob is listed at 6'8" and 237 pounds and slid to the Celtics at #27 in the 2018 draft.

DeAndre averaged 14.4 minutes per game in his sophomore season, while Rob averaged 13.4 MPG. Their second-year points per game were close with Jordan at 4.8 PPG and Williams putting up 5.2 PPG. Rebounds were also close (DeAndre/5.0 RPG - Rob/4.4 RPG). While playing fewer minutes, Rob had a significant lead on assists, steals, blocks, field goal percentage and free throw percentage.

With Jordan later earning All-Star and All-NBA First Team honors (once each), in addition to 2-time All-Defensive Team and 2-time rebound leader, the future could hold similar honors for Rob Williams.

In his 6th season (2013-14), Jordan logged 35 MPG, his highest average to that time. Rob's SECOND-YEAR per-36-minutes stats top DeAndre's 6th-season averages in all but one category (APG are even). Admittedly, this is merely a numerical comparison, but if he remains injury-free and puts in the work, Rob Williams can attain the level of DeAndre Jordan - or beyond.

Added March 5, 2021:

At the mid-point of the 2020-21 season, Rob Williams is emerging from obscurity with more floor time, and he is flourishing. My stand that his ceiling is at least that of the Nets' DeAndre Jordan remains in place. Here are the stats for both players in their third season in the League. It is clear that projecting Rob's numbers to match Jordan's 23.6 minutes per game in his third season clearly would show Williams III has a good shot at surpassing DeAndre going forward:

Willliams:

16.1 MPG - 6.9 PPG - 5.9 RPG - 1.1 APG - .9 SPG - 1.4 BPG - 1.0 TOPG - 1.8 FPG

Jordan:

25.6 MPG - 7.1 PPG - 7.2 RPG - 0.5 APG - 0.5 SPG - 1.5 BPG - 1.8 TOPG - 3.2 FPG

A sorrowful farewell to Kitty's Restaurant (North Reading, MA) as a family tradition

Time to say "Goodbye" to Kitty's Restaurant - my   family's destination and tradition for six generations and more than 80 years. My memories of Kitty's go back to the early-1950's . I would accompany my dad and grandfather on fishing trips to the Ipswich River in North Reading, Massachusetts - followed by a visit to the restaurant on Main Street. In later years, my wife, Linda, and I would eat there with our two kids, Marc and Lisa - and years later - with our two grand daughters - and still later - with our great grandson, Carson. Author and family at Kitty's approx. 10 years ago Kitty's never disappointed. The drinks were big and well-made . The food was terrific - as were the portions. The service was exceptional and we became well-acquainted with the waiters and waitresses. It all worked so very well for many decades. My grand daughter, Courtney , was particularly fond of the restaurant. She was born with cystic fibrosis , and during her fr...

Wemby versus Kareem as rookies

We already know that the Spurs Victor Wembanyama is going to be an NBA phenomenon, but will he surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by the end of his career. It is highly likely.  I did a "per-36-minutes" comparison between the two stars, mainly because Kareem logged 43.1 MPG in his rookie campaign - while Wemby has been held to only 29.4 MPG. Kareem: 24.1 PPG - 12.1 RPG - 3.4 APG - .518 FG - .653 FT Wemby:  25.9 PPG - 12.9 RPG - 4.5 APG - .463 FG - .796 FT No blocks, steals or 3-pointers were looked at since they were not tracked in Jabbar's first year in the NBA. It should also be noted that Kareem was 22 years old at the time, while Victor started at age 20. Two factors favoring Wembanyama ultimately surpassing Jabbar on any "Best-of-All-Time" charts are his point guard skills , shared by so many European players.  and the fact he is being mentored by Gregg Popovich. His potential seems astounding. But the question remains. Can he garner six Titles and six MVP ...
