Grant Williams finally has a breakout game in Celtics 114-93 win over Pistons

We knew Grant Williams' 25 consecutive 3-point misses were a fluke, and we knew that a breakout game was in the offing. Well, it happened last night as the Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons 114-93.

Williams logged a team-high 29 minutes (tied with Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown) - notched 18 points on 8-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, while adding three rebounds and a block. His points came on a combo of 3-pointers, mid-range jumpers, layups and put-backs. Grant has looked comfortable on the hardwood since he first stepped onto the parquet, but his production has been sparse. Not so last night.

Marcus Smart has even gone as far as referring to G-Will as his "Mini-Me". Grant was taken by Boston with the 22nd-overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, and he is logging 15.1 MPG, the most among the Celtics rookies. But at 6'6" and 240 pounds, the question is, where does he play on the court. Power forward? Small forward? Small-ball center? My guess is that we will see him at all three positions as the season progresses. Last night, G-Will showed what he is capable of. Expect to see more of it. Also expect his 3-point accuracy to start climbing after his 0-for-25 start. He is now at 4-of-32 for .125 3-ball accuracy. He is starting to find his mark.

Nik Stauskas adds "shooting with size" voiced by Brad Stevens

As a 6'6" shooting guard, 28-year-old Nik Stauskas adds that shooting with size sorely needed by the Boston Celtics. Drafted 8th-overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2014, Stauskas has bounced around to various teams since then. Nik Stauskas' deal with the Boston Celtics includes non-guaranteed salary for the second season in 2022-23, a source tells @celticsblog . — Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) March 4, 2022 Nik has never averaged more than 9.5 points per game in the NBA, but Boston is most likely counting on his production for Grand Rapids in the G League as the incentive to sign him. In 17 games thus far, he has averaged 24.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 4.8 APG - while shooting 50% on field goals and 45% on treys. Nik Stauskas is signing a two-year deal with the Boston Celtics, his agents Mark Bartelstein and Andy Shiffman of @PrioritySports tell ESPN.
