The Celtics picked the right guy at #33 overall in the 2019 NBA draft, and I picked the right one to write for @CelticsSentinel. Only two days ago, guest writer, Jim McIntyre made a potent argument that Carsen Edwards is the best shooter on the Celtics roster, and Carsen showed us that last night in Boston's take-out of Cleveland, 118-95.
Besides loving to watch @Cboogie_3 play, I have written that he scores in bunches. Hell, he poured in 24 points in a mere six minutes of the third quarter. He is quick and unpredictable, and as coach Brad Stevens indicated below, "His burst is different."
We are looking at a scoring machine. Despite his lack of height at 5'11" without shoes, Edwards has no issue getting a good shot off. He never stops moving - has a quick release - and creates space on virtually every shot. I have labeled him as the Celtics latest version of the Green Running Machine, previously attributed to the late John Havlicek. Carsen's "burst" of speed will take some adjustment by his defenders.
In 20 minutes of floor time, Edwards put up 30 points on 10-of-16 from the field and 9-of-15 on 3-pointers, while grabbing three rebounds and blocking one shot. His shots came from everywhere except the parking lot. We must remember that Philadelphia traded the draft rights to Edwards, and he has a shot at being the steal of the draft. Tremont Waters came in second in points-scored with 24, and passed off for a team-high seven assists. Center Vincent Poirier came through with a team-high six rebounds, while scoring eight points, getting two steals and blocking two shots.
Stevens has messaged Celtics players and fans not to get over-excited about this season. He does not want expectations too high, but it is tough not to get too excited. And as a reminder, take a read on Jim McIntyre's piece on Carsen. I was slightly concerned that Jim may have been too optimistic about Cboogie's potential. Doesn't look like it. Look for more of our articles on the game later today.

Carsen Edwards pulling that thing from EVERYWHERE☔️. Another example of NBA executives looking too much at the tape measure and not enough at who can really hoop. pic.twitter.com/DOQqFvTYL6— Hoop Fiends 🏀💉 (@hoopfiends) October 16, 2019
