Is the perception of Tacko Fall as a heavy-footed plodder valid?

There is a perception by some NBA analysts that the Boston Celtics Tacko Fall is a heavy-footed plodder on the court. The "heavy" part is correct - he weighs 311 pounds. And at 7'7" in height, he is a legitimate giant. Don't expect him to run the court like Bill Russell, or even Robert Parish. And in the modern age, he certainly will never move like Jayson Tatum, who appears to run the court as though he is powered by some anti-gravity machine. He seems to literally float as he moves - one sign of true athleticism.

Tacko certainly isn't a high-level athlete, but very few giants are. Heavy-footed for a very large center? I think not. His vertical leap won't break any records, but the total height reached on his leap certainly did.

How about agility. Once again, no records broken here, but take a look. Give it the eye test. His agility is more than sufficient for his projected role, and it can be improved.

The Green Giant will be battling for that 15th Boston Celtics roster spot in the impending training camp. Danny Ainge was intrigued enough to sign Fall to an Exhibit 10 contract because he didn't want him to get away, at least until he saw more of Tacko. The Exhibit 10 contract can be converted into a 2-way deal prior to the start of the regular season. Training camp and exhibition games will determine where Tacko ends up.

Rules of survival: When search-and-rescue turns into body recovery

How the Hell did this happen? Two days after 19-year-old Emily Sotelo was supposedly dropped off in Franconia Notch (NH) at roughly 5:00 AM ET, Sunday, November 20, 2022 by her mother, to hike several mountains alone, the search continues for the young lady. Photo by Linda Lane The information from news agencies indicated that Emily started hiking the trails while it was still dark. She was supposedly wearing only sneakers, a coat and workout pants. I can persona;ly attest that the weather in the area was very cold with high wind speeds, and gaining elevation on the trails would only add to the horrendous conditions. Ms. Sotelo was reportedly a seasoned hiker, but had little or no experience hiking in winter. At the peaks, temperatures on that Sunday dropped to zero degrees with a wind chill of minus-30 degrees. It is beyond my comprehension to imagine a hiker-of-experience tackling that kind of travel - in extreme weather - with only basic clothes and few (or no) supplies. I have hik
