Grant Williams is a higher-skilled replacement for Guerschon Yabusele's joyousness

The Celtics waiving of the much-loved Guerschon Yabusele was a tough and emotional move, but it needed to happen. He was an absolute pleasure to be around for his teammates, but he just didn't project to be a solid NBA player. Now comes rookie Grant Williams, who always seems to be up emotionally. His verbal pleasantries never seem to end, even when the occasional teammate wishes they would.


Grant averaged 13.0 PPG and 6.0 RPG in Summer League . What is most-notable is the fact he scored a team-high plus/minus over the first four games. It looks like G-Will can contribute to winning right way when the regular season begins. An he brings some fun and joyousness that departed with Guersch's release.


I will always wish there had been a way for Boston to keep Yabu on board, not for his basketball talents, but rather for his good nature and pleasing personality. But that isn't the way the NBA, or Danny Ainge specifically, works. In the end, he had to go.

It now looks like Grant Williams will fill a need on the floor and in the locker room. He obviously has suffered the hurts that all of us have experienced, but he doesn't show it. That is a fine quality in a human being. Guersch has that same quality, but he lacked NBA skills. G-Will appears to have the winning skills, high character and likability all wrapped up in one package - just what the Celtics needed for the upcoming season.

A sorrowful farewell to Kitty's Restaurant (North Reading, MA) as a family tradition

  Time to say "Goodbye" to Kitty's Restaurant - my   family's destination and tradition for six generations and more than 80 years. My memories of Kitty's go back to the early-1950's . I would accompany my dad and grandfather on fishing trips to the Ipswich River in North Reading, Massachusetts - followed by a visit to the restaurant on Main Street. Wemby versus Kareem as rookies

 We already know that the Spurs Victor Wembanyama is going to be an NBA phenomenon, but will he surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by the end of his career. It is highly likely.  I did a "per-36-minutes" comparison between the two stars, mainly because Kareem logged 43.1 MPG in his rookie campaign - while Wemby has been held to only 29.4 MPG. Kareem: 24.1 PPG - 12.1 RPG - 3.4 APG - .518 FG - .653 FT Wemby:  25.9 PPG - 12.9 RPG - 4.5 APG - .463 FG - .796 FT No blocks, steals or 3-pointers were looked at since they were not tracked in Jabbar's first year in the NBA. It should also be noted that Kareem was 22 years old at the time, while Victor started at age 20.
