Celtics fail to contain Hornets Kemba Walker - lose to Charlotte 117-112

What did the Celtics miss about containing Charlotte's Kemba Walker? He was coming off a career night on Saturday, pouring in 60 points on 62% from the floor. As I wrote in my CelticsLife article prior to the game, Boston absolutely needed to make every attempt to stop him. They didn't.


Kemba scored 43 points last night on 56% on field goals, 54% on treys and 89% on free throws. That can not be called containment. His plus/minus for the contest was a game-high +17.


The tweet below might be an indicator of Boston's mistake. It is rare for an NBA [player to follow up a career-scoring night with another gem. But that is what Walker did.


But it wasn't all about stopping Walker. The Celtics offensive game needs attention. They rely too heavily on 3-pointers and too little on drives to the rim. It happened again towards the end of the losing effort.



As of this morning, Kemba leads the NBA in scoring at almost 30 points per game (29.6 PPG), thanks in part to Boston allowing him to pile up two terrific scoring runs in a row. They should have been ready.

A sorrowful farewell to Kitty's Restaurant (North Reading, MA) as a family tradition

  Time to say "Goodbye" to Kitty's Restaurant - my   family's destination and tradition for six generations and more than 80 years. My memories of Kitty's go back to the early-1950's . I would accompany my dad and grandfather on fishing trips to the Ipswich River in North Reading, Massachusetts - followed by a visit to the restaurant on Main Street. Wemby versus Kareem as rookies

 We already know that the Spurs Victor Wembanyama is going to be an NBA phenomenon, but will he surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by the end of his career. It is highly likely.  I did a "per-36-minutes" comparison between the two stars, mainly because Kareem logged 43.1 MPG in his rookie campaign - while Wemby has been held to only 29.4 MPG. Kareem: 24.1 PPG - 12.1 RPG - 3.4 APG - .518 FG - .653 FT Wemby:  25.9 PPG - 12.9 RPG - 4.5 APG - .463 FG - .796 FT No blocks, steals or 3-pointers were looked at since they were not tracked in Jabbar's first year in the NBA. It should also be noted that Kareem was 22 years old at the time, while Victor started at age 20.
