      Last week beating the Hornets was a must win , now as the Celtics enter Brooklyn, it is a must, must win. Let's see what my esteemed mentor Tom has to say .  . Kyrie is not cherished by many Celtics fans, and a Nets win would end their losing streak and give them hope, and in Irvings's  case - a higher (lower?) level of arrogance.      The Nets were the arrogant team last year who came into the Garden and flung disrespectful comments at Celtics fans. They also led by their petulant leader Kyrie who chose to stomp on the Celtics logo as a child would.       Now if I were the Celtics I'm going into Brooklyn tonight looking to BREAK this team even more. Injuries are mounting up and so are losses. Well deserved if you ask me, after what they did. The Nets are proof that three stars doesn't always work.  Where do I begin? Boston will be facing a severely-depleted Brooklyn team in enemy territory , and this is not the time to relax or take anything for granted. The Nets should be without Kevin Durant (injury), James Harden (injury and cloudy future) and Kyrie Irving (anti-vaccine stance) . Joe Harris remains out following ankle surgery and LeMarcus Aldridge could be among the missing with ankle issues of his own. The Nets are on an 8-game losing streak coming in to this contest. Conversely, Boston is quite healthy and is on a 5-game winning streak . There's more. The Green can leapfrog the Nets in the standings with a win. The Celtics would end up in the 7th-spot in the East with a 31-25 record (.554), just ahead of Brooklyn (29-25, .537).  A loss by the Toronto Raptors tomorrow would then raise Boston to #6 in the standings , but we are getting ahead of ourselves.       75 Years, that's a decent amount of time to look at your top 15 players. When in all reality the Celtics could have done 25 if not more. But I get why they limited it to 15. Group 1 gives us Larry Bird who had it all, his shooting was pin point, passing was lazer focused, could bang for boards and defend. Trash talking supreme, and IMO should be in the GOAT Convo.        KG, brought Boston that grit and balls it was lacking. He understood the Celtics brother hood and culture and played that way. Another guy who really could do it all on the floor. If he's healthy we should have had a three peat.  The Boston Celtics have gone 8-deep over the last 12 games (20-or-more minutes per game), and they are 9-3 in that span . But the (most-likely) soon-to-be-departed Dennis Schroder , is part of the "Elite Eight". A 7-man rotation just won't fly in the post-season , so where does that 8th man come from - the present bench or an addition to the roster? Ime Udoka has relied heavily on Grant Williams and Josh Richardson off the bench, but below them in minutes are Enes Freedom, Romeo Langford, Aaron Nesmith and Payton Pritchard, none of whom seem to be in favor by Coach Udoka. In comparison, The Champion Milwaukee Bucks went 8-deep (18-or-more MPG) to take the Title last season. The point is that Udoka is defining his rotations, and it looks like - assuming Schroder is gone - that 8th slot needs to be filled by an acquisition prior to this Thursday .       1st Quarter          So far so good, once again the Celtics face an inferior team. Need to continue bringing the pain to them. Let's build on this early lead, by getting both JT and JB rolling. I want to see more screens and pick and rolls with this offense. How about some more Wolverine to RWill alley oops!        JB when in the flow of the offense, tends to be very successful. The team overall has thrown up enough bricks to build a nice new home. Will someone go to hoop please. Way to many outside shots, and they are allowing the inferior magic to stay in the game. Need to see a better effect come second quarter.      2nd Quarter      Not liking what I'm seeing out there. Celtics seem flat and not ready to play.       What if I told you the Boston Celtics have the same amount of wins as the Nets, with KD, the Beard, and half a Kyrie. What if I also told you the Celtics will leap frog them in the standings this season.       What if I also told you that I feel the Celtics are a better team than the Nets! The Celtics play great defense and are surging as one of the best defensive teams in the league.       The Nets are 2-8 over their last ten games. Is the turmoil surrounding Harden the issue?! Or is it that pain in blank Kyrie whose return seems like it's failing like I did in Algebra. Sometimes talent doesn't outweigh the other things and he's a prime example. What if I told you that it's deserving of the Nets and Kyrie to be on a 7 game losing streak after what he did to the Celtics and to the Garden floor last season.       I will say this, I know KD is an amazing player, but even he can't save this team.  There are parallels between former- Celtic, Al Jefferson , and present Celtics center, Rob Williams. Larry Bird praised Al's footwork soon after Jefferson entered the League, and despite early injuries, the 6'10" center broke out in his third season in Boston .Al became the main prize for the Minnesota Timberwolves in a deal that sent Kevin Garnett to Boston . And now in his fourth season, Rob Williams, despite early injuries, is having a breakout season , and be assured there will be much interest in his services from rival GMs. My take on all of this would be that RWill is the most-physically-gifted big men to grace the center spot for Boston since Bill Russell . He wing span and athleticism are through the roof, and his basketball IQ has progressed greatly. It would take a massive return (a la Kevin Garnett) to move him out of Beantown .
