Breaking: Max Strus signs two-way contract with Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have signed shooting guard, Max Strus, to a two-way contract. Strus was originally signed by the Boston Celtics to a 2-way contract this summer and later elevated to a standard contract. He was recently caught up in a numbers game with Boston's surplus of players vying for the final roster slot - and he was waived. OFFICIAL: The Bulls have signed guard Max Strus to a Two-Way contract. MORE: — Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) October 22, 2019 It had been rumored that both Max and fellow-Celtic, Javonte Green, were both being considered for the 15th slot, while also being closely followed by other teams. Green finally won the final roster slot with Boston, and it is great to hear that Strus has quickly been acquired by the Bulls. Oh man Max Strus may not have made the Celtics but he has a powerhouse social media team haha watch this https://t.co/qD41F2QGpc — Adam Himmelsbach (@AdamHimmelsbach) October 22, 2019 Follow Tom at @CelticsSentinel, @_Celtics_C...

Start the NBA season with this exquisite Carsen Edwards "Hungry Thighs" video - I really mean it!

Carsen Edwards thigh mania has taken on a life of its own. It may have started with my tweet about Carsen being the "Quad God", or "Quad Lord" if that suits you, of the NBA. I have been a Personal trainer for 26 years and never saw such controlled muscle mass and definition. The "Quad God". Every guy wants quadriceps like Carsen Edwards. pic.twitter.com/E2DMoBjiSn — Tom Lane (@CelticsSentinel) October 16, 2019 The next day, here comes the "Thigh Hard" parody - obviously a takeoff of the Bruce Willis flick, Die Hard. Quad mania was off and running. #CUsThighs #ThighHard pic.twitter.com/KdGJgpL2pL — 👁️🐷👁️ManBearPig (@manbearpiggins) October 17, 2019 Now comes an exquisite "Hungry Thighs" video by Danielle Hobeika. We remember the Eric Carmen tune from the movie, Dirty Dancing, and the video is a matching of four of my favorites - Eric Carmen - the song - the movie - and Carsen Edwards. You really need to see and hear this. Goo...

Expect the unexpected in Celtics season-opener versus Philadelphia

The Celtics season opener takes place tomorrow versus the Philadelphia 76'ers. The two teams last met on March 20, 2019 , resulting in a 118-115 Philly victory. No one is quite sure what will happen tomorrow night. Marcus Smart shoved Joel Embiid to the floor 😳 pic.twitter.com/yshJkeO1fe — SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) March 21, 2019 There is no love lost between Marcus Smart and Joel Embiid. Smart's come-from-behind shove of Embiid got Marcus tossed from the game and ignited the big Philly center. I doubt we will see a repeat by Marcus. Brad Stevens was vocal about Marcus needing to stay in the game. The top scorer and rebounder in that game was Kyrie Irving who has departed for the Nets. Top assist guy was Al Horford who should be manning the power forward spot tomorrow next to Joel. In Kyrie's place will be Kemba Walker, and we can expect him to drive the Philly defenders nuts with his quick moves, passing and scoring - much like Irving. The center spot for Boston...

Jaylen Brown's contract extension may not be out of line

The first reaction to Jaylen Brown's 4-year/$115 million contract extension might be that the Celtics paid too much. A closer look reveals it may not be out of line. Yahoo Sources: On Jaylen Brown’s four-year extension, he can secure $8M in incentives if he wins MVP, DPOY or makes one of three All-NBA Teams. He pockets $4M if plays 65 or more games, team wins 49 or more games and reaches second round of playoffs. Total guaranteed salary $103M — Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) October 21, 2019 It turns out that Brown's contract contains a number of incentives which bring the 4-year total down to roughly $103 million. The Raptors' Pascal Siacam just received a 4-year/$130 million max deal, while the Pacers Domantas Sabonis was granted a 4-year/$77 million contract. It can be argued that Jaylen's value falls somewhere between that of Raptors Champion Siacam who averged 19 points and 7 rebounds per game in last season's playoffs - and that of Sabonis. Domantas Sabonis...

Watch: The best of Celtics Preseason and the promise of the regular season

The NBA regular season begins tomorrow, and the Celtics get underway versus the Philadelphia 76'ers on Wednesday. Tomek Kordylewski has put together a terrific compilation of the best plays from preseason play. Take a look. Rob's lobs, Tacko's flat-footed dunks, Edward's excitement, Green's athleticism, Kanter's inside game, Hayward taking contact, Smart hitting 3s - it's all here - the Best of Pre-season. Best of Boston Celtics 2019 Preseason https://t.co/Ze12g2ZR5Q via @YouTube — Tom Lane (@CelticsSentinel) October 21, 2019 Sophomore center, Rob Williams looks more confident and we can expect more minutes from him this season. The latest measurements, without shoes, list him at only 6'8", but the wingspan and athleticism make up for that. Expect a lot of lobs and blocks from him - and more confident play. Gordon Hayward is seen in the video attacking the basket, taking contact and scoring - something we saw little of last season. He is mov...

Please Danny - Do not sign JAYLEN BROWN to an extention!!!

I'm begging you Danny.  Don't do it.  Not yet.  Please just let the season play out and then we can go from there. Jaylen Brown & the Celtics will come to an agreement on an extension by Mondays deadline.... it will be north of 100 million dollars. #GRDUndefeated — GreenRunsDeep (@CelticsGRD) October 20, 2019 I am already hearing all kinds of talk about the "talent" we have on the Celtics this year and people asking how there will be enough minutes for everyone to play.  Carsen Edwards needs to be on the court.  Marcus Smart is the 6th man.  Enes Kanter has to play.  Robert and Grant Williams can contribute so they gotta get some run somehow.  "We have so much talent."  Oh my God.  Please help me.  People said the exact same crap last year.  I look back at last year's squad and I say "where was all the talent?"  Seriously people - We weren't that good.  We didn't underachieve.  We just were not that good...

Why Danny Ainge retained Javonte Green instead of Max Strus

With dead-eye, 3-point shooter, Max Strus, being waived by the Celtics yesterday, all indications are that Javonte Green will be the guy to fill that 15th roster spot . It had to be a close call for Danny Ainge. With Boston's depth, they couldn't keep both. So why did Danny let Strus go while retaining Green? Javonte Green or Tony Allen? pic.twitter.com/GdkSYN3XYZ — Tomek Kordylewski (@Timi_093) October 13, 2019 The above video may reveal the reason. My thinking is that Ainge allowed defensive ace, Tony Allen, to leave the Celtics in free agency prior to the 2010-11 season, and openly regretted the decision. With the Memphis Grizzlies, Tony earned his very-first NBA All-Defensive Second Team award in his first season in Memphis - and went on to be a 3-Time All-Defense First Teamer and 3-time All-Defense Second Teamer - all with Memphis ( per NBC Sports' A. Sherrod Blakely ): When Danny Ainge makes a personnel decision, it's rare that even with hindsight, he looks b...
