Only three games! Only pre-season! Payton Pritchard's minutes have risen from game-to-game, going from 18 MPG - to 21 MPG - and finally to 27 MPG. That averages out to 22 minutes per contest. Extrapolating his stats to per-36-minutes status reveals:
19.7 points/game - 4.3 rebounds/game - 9.1 assists/game - 42.9 %FG - 36.8% 3s
That may be why his time on the floor keeps rising. He can score at the hoop and well away from it. He rebounds well for a little guy. He is an adept facilitator. And he works his butt off at both ends of the floor.
Pritchard is a gamer, and don't try to tell him otherwise. In a previous article, I compared Payton to Gail Goodrich, who - when given more floor time - flourished to the tune of five All-Star nods and one Title.
No guarantees, but Pritchard may very well have some "Stumpy" Goodrich in him and star when given the opportunity by the Celtics or a rival team.
