In support of former-Celtic Rajon Rondo in Kyrie Irving's latest injury

Because this incident involved two former Celtics players, I took a closer look at Kyrie Irving re-injuring his jaw this morning when his Nets took on the Lakers in exhibition. Even though some news feeds and tweets seem to indicate the Lakers' Rajon Rondo caused the re-injury to Irving's face, that may not be totally correct.


An announcer in the video states, "He (Kyrie) leaned into Rondo's shoulder" - which appears on close examination to be the case. Irving was wearing a protective mask at the time of the contact due to a previous facial injury. I ask the question, why was Irving even playing if the original injury made his jaw so vulnerable. I also ask why Rondo was made the villain once again by some.


Rondo is an intense competitor. He plays hard, and he plays to win. I had written previously about a #SpitGate incident where Rondo supposedly spit on Chris Paul. I proposed a Second-Spitter Theory implicating Carmelo Anthony, and even broached the "Inadvertent Flying Phlegm" idea. In the end, I chose the latter theory, releasing Rondo from further blame, at least by me. Anyone can produce a Spittle Surge while angered.


So, once again Rondo is vindicated. He inflicted no harm, and we hope that Kyrie's mishap is minor and he will be back in action very soon. We will simply label this incident as the Facial Farce and move on.

A sorrowful farewell to Kitty's Restaurant (North Reading, MA) as a family tradition

  Time to say "Goodbye" to Kitty's Restaurant - my   family's destination and tradition for six generations and more than 80 years. My memories of Kitty's go back to the early-1950's . I would accompany my dad and grandfather on fishing trips to the Ipswich River in North Reading, Massachusetts - followed by a visit to the restaurant on Main Street. Wemby versus Kareem as rookies

 We already know that the Spurs Victor Wembanyama is going to be an NBA phenomenon, but will he surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by the end of his career. It is highly likely.  I did a "per-36-minutes" comparison between the two stars, mainly because Kareem logged 43.1 MPG in his rookie campaign - while Wemby has been held to only 29.4 MPG. Kareem: 24.1 PPG - 12.1 RPG - 3.4 APG - .518 FG - .653 FT Wemby:  25.9 PPG - 12.9 RPG - 4.5 APG - .463 FG - .796 FT No blocks, steals or 3-pointers were looked at since they were not tracked in Jabbar's first year in the NBA. It should also be noted that Kareem was 22 years old at the time, while Victor started at age 20.
